Tether Updates Users on a Strategic Transition for CNH₮ to Better Support Community-Driven Product Focus

At Tether, we remain committed to supporting a resilient, secure, and innovative blockchain ecosystem across all of our products. As part of this commitment, we continuously evaluate our stablecoin offerings to ensure they align with real-world usage, long-term sustainability, and the needs of the communities that rely on them.

Community interest and adoption are central to every product decision we make. When evaluating whether to maintain or introduce a Tether token, we assess market demand, operational sustainability, and broader ecosystem conditions that influence long-term usability. Our priority is to allocate resources where they can most effectively enhance security, reliability, and innovation across the digital asset landscape.

After careful consideration, Tether has decided to discontinue support for CNH₮. This transition will follow a structured, transparent process similar to prior product sunsets and will proceed in two phases.

Effective immediately, Tether will cease all new issuances of CNH₮. No additional CNH₮ tokens will be minted going forward.

One year following this announcement, Tether will discontinue redemption support for CNH₮. A separate reminder notice will be issued ahead of the redemption deadline.

This decision reflects evolving market conditions, low interest in the product, and limited sustained community demand for CNH₮ relative to other supported assets. CNH₮’s usage levels don’t justify the continued operational support required to maintain it at the standards Tether applies across its products.

Tether will continue to focus its efforts on stablecoins and infrastructure that demonstrate strong, organic adoption and long-term relevance. This includes advancing core stablecoin liquidity, expanding tokenization infrastructure, and supporting new financial tools that better serve global users and builders.

Tether customers holding CNH₮ across all supported blockchains are encouraged to redeem their holdings as soon as possible and must do so by the redemption deadline. Until the redemption deadline, Tether will continue to redeem CNH₮ as usual and subject to Tether’s Terms of Service

We appreciate the trust and support of the community and remain committed to transparency, responsible product stewardship, and building financial infrastructure that is durable, useful, and globally accessible.

Together, we continue working toward a more sustainable and inclusive digital financial ecosystem.
